I'm Alex. I am a graduate student turned mommy, Brooklynite turned New Orleanean, carefree twenty-something turned at times, a hot stressed mess (who turns thirty this year - eep!).
Type Alex is my new blog. No more updating Charmingly Domestic. The original ideas behind CD are less relevant now, as my life mainly revolves around struggling in academia, constantly chasing, worrying about, and loving on my one year-old, all while clinging to the hobbies that make me, me - making, baking, and buying stuff.
I hope this blog will more accurately reflect me and my interests - an academic who is concerned for urban kids, who likes to engage in arty crafty things, who uses her son to revel in all things childlike, and is at the same time analytic and yes, an anal Type A neurotic person. I have been a homeowner for over a year now, and after a pretty distressing renovation, my family is now in our house, and my husband and I are working hard to make it our home.
I plan to post articles that interest me, ones that I find in both academic journals as well as the times, or in InStyle. I want to tell you about cool finds and DIYs for my son and home, as well as the stress that comes with being a graduate student mother. I will update you on our family and on things I've found trolling the internet that are fun, and maybe even useful. And ever so occasionally, I will rant. Don't worry - there will be plenty of frivolity and fun.
So please come back, read, comment!
