I am insanely proud of myself and three of my doctoral student colleagues (and my amazing advisor) for delivering a fantastic school crisis preparedness workshop today! We are awesome.
Although we have been planning this workshop for months, it is especially timely given the tragedy of Sandy Hook in Newtown, CT. It was no surprise that 50 -- yes, 50-- New Orleans schools and 8 community agencies were represented in our audience of 104 people.
We presented workshop 1 of the PREPaRE curriculum. The workshop was developed by the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP). The acronym PREPaRE represents the workshop's conceptual framework:
The workshop educates attendees about school safety and crisis prevention and response. More information about training to deliver the workshop or attending one can be found here.
And more about my trauma specialization in grad school to come.
